Microsoft announced Monday that Kate Johnson, currently an executive with GE, will join the Redmond tech giant as president and corporate vice president of the company’s U.S. division.

The announcement doesn’t indicate what Johnson will work on in her new position, which begins Sept. 8, and we’ve reached out to Microsoft for more details. Johnson is is currently the chief commercial officer for GE Digital, a division of GE focused on digitizing industrial companies through the use of software and data analytics.

Johnson has more than 20 years of business and technology experience and she has held several executive positions in her close to four years at GE. Before GE, she spent close to six years as a senior vice president at Oracle.

Microsoft mentioned that Johnson during her time at GE supported several diversity initiatives, including “Balance the Equation,” an initiative to hire 20,000 female technologists by 2020 and “Women in Commercial,” a push to increase diversity among sales and marketing staff.
