OAKLAND — Warriors coach Steve Kerr presumably talked to Draymond Green about his increasing number of technical fouls (14). But what Kerr has told Green remains anyone’s guess.

“My advice to him would actually go to him,” Kerr said with a smile following Friday’s practice. “I wouldn’t say it to you. I appreciate the question. That’s private.”

Nonetheless, Kerr offered sympathy on how Green can dial back his issues with the officiating. The Warriors (42-13) enter Saturday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs (35-21) with Green posting a league-leading 14 technicals, two short of drawing a one-game suspension without pay.

“The only thing I’ll say is Draymond is one of the most competitive people I’ve ever been around,” Kerr said. “I love his edge and I love his fire. We need that. Having to channel that can be difficult. But that’s the goal. I’ll leave it at that.”

Green had difficulty this week channeling that balance.

Green picked up a technical in the second quarter of Thursday’s win over Dallas after waving his right arm dismissively after being issue with a delay-of-game warning for throwing the ball out of bounds so it no longer bounced on his right shoulder. Green was also ejected in Tuesday’s loss to Oklahoma City. He first earned a technical for arguing with an official over a no call after Thunder forward Jerami Grant elbowed him in the mouth and caused him to bleed, an incident that made Green spend $500 on dental work on a new tooth and braces and pay $50,000 to the NBA for “directing inappropriate and offensive language” to the official.
