SANDY — A shooting involving a police officer happened near a TRAX stop at 9000 South in Sandy, authorities said.

Sandy Police Sgt. Sergeant Jason Nielson said the officer was not from Sandy. He did not immediately provide further details.

The shooting happened about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officer-involved shooting in the parking lot of the Trax station at 90th South.

Detectives are focused on this car just east of the parking lot.

Police say ATF was tracking a suspect to serve arrest warrant. Something happened that prompted officers to open fire. One suspect injured. Others being questioned.
