Looking for something to do in Metro Vancouver? Here are three suggestions for Friday, July 13.

Vancouver Folk Music Festival

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival kicks off Friday at Jericho Beach Park, and you should be there, especially for opening night. This year’s lineup boasts all sorts of great acts — Alex Cuba, Dawn Pemberton and Skye Wallace, to name a few — but for my money, the can’t-miss show is Friday night’s headliner, Neko Case. She’s the best, and she’ll perform on the main stage to close out the first night at 10 p.m. Still not convinced? In addition to the great tunes, there are the booths, and the food, and the atmosphere and, if it gets too hot, the beach.

Where: Jericho Beach, 3941 Point Grey Rd., Vancouver
When: Doors open at 4 p.m.
Cost: $45 – $200

Tracey Bell: 13 Divas in 69 Minutes

Get out to Celebrities Nightclub this Friday and catch award-winning comedian Tracey Bell in her high-energy, highly-improvised A Dozen Divas show, which will see her portray Celine Dion, Cher, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Dolly Parton, Marilyn Monroe, Liza Minnelli, Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Shania Twain and more. Half tribute, half parody, Bell’s show is all kinds of fun. Plus: Partial proceeds benefit A Loving Spoonful, which provides meals to people living with HIV/AIDS.

Where: Celebrities Nightclub, 1022 Davie St., Vancouver
When: 7:30 p.m.
Cost: $20

Vans Park Series: Men’s Pro Tour 2018

Catch some of the best skateboarders in the world when the Vans Park Series, the premier competition for professional park terrain skateboarders, returns to Vancouver. The event expects to host over 3000 people to watch last year’s champion, Pedro Barros defend his title against top contenders Tom Schaar, Alex Sorgente, and more. The athletes will be competing for their chance to be one of the five highest ranked skaters to …read more
