I flew on one of the ‘worst airlines in America’ during one of the busiest times of the year. Here’s why I’d do it again.

Frontier Airlines is one of many ultra-low-cost airlines in the US offering passengers cheaper fares than what major carriers charge. But there’s a catch to flying one such airline, especially one that has often been ranked as one of the worst in the country. I recently flew from San Francisco, California, to Austin, Texas, aboard a Frontier flight. Here’s why it was a painfully mediocre experience — and why I would still most likely do it again, under certain conditions. SEE ALSO: I flew 14 hours on one of the best airlines in the world that you’ve probably never heard of — and even its worst seat put other long-haul… Read More

HQ Trivia will run some games without cash prizes

HQ Trivia & Words surprised players yesterday with a different type of prize: in-game points, instead of the usual multi-thousand-dollar prize pool. The change is an experiment and not a sign of financial disaster, the company says, but players could see more points-only games in the future. Players complained about the lack of a cash reward on Reddit and Twitter, saying they play the game for the cash prizes. The change also revived concerns about the company’s health. HQ’s ranking in Apple’s App Store fell to around 1,000 last week, down from the top 10 a year ago, according to App Annie. In the past several months, reports have pointed… Read More

8 popular packaged foods that go by different names around the world

Sometimes the same snack or food product will go by different names in different countries. “Cool American” Doritos and “Cool Ranch” Doritos are the same flavor but with different names in different countries. Called “Frosted Flakes” in the US, the popular cereal is called “Frosties” in other countries. It’s no secret that the words for your favorite food and drinks can have an entirely different translation when you are traveling to a new place. For example, ordering a side of “chips” at a British restaurant means that you’d like some French fries with your meal, but doing so in the US could score you a bag of crispy potato chips… Read More

SOUTH JORDAN — A man in a stolen vehicle who police believe was fleeing from a hit-and-run crash was involved in a second crash moments later, killing a woman in a minivan, police say. Johnny Depp: I Can PROVE I Never Hit Amber Heard!

When Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce way back in January of 2017, they signed a non-disclosure agreement indicating that they would both refrain from discussing the split in the press. However, due to Depp’s defamation suit against a UK tabloid that published shocking abuse allegations against the actor, their messy breakup continues to make headlines. According to a new report by Us Weekly, Depp is still working hard to clear his name, and his legal team has entered into evidence sworn statements from numerous witnesses who claim that Heard’s claims are without merit. “Mr. Depp filed new and previously unseen evidence with the U.K. court, including security… Read More

I rode the subway in Taiwan and saw why it’s one of the best mass transit systems in the world

The Taipei, Taiwan metro is cheap, clean, and efficient. You don’t ever have to wait longer than five minutes for a train. The rest of the world could learn from Taiwan’s subway. I lived in New York City for seven years, which means I know how terrible commuting on an inconsistent, overcrowded subway line can be. It’s also how I know that the metro in Taipei, Taiwan is one of the best metros in the world. The Taipei Mass Rapid Transit is relatively new to the country, first opening in the late ’90s. Its late start likely allowed it to avoid many the pitfalls of bad subway systems. Taipei’s metro… Read More

Ten-year-old dies by suicide after being bullied for his colostomy bag

SALT LAKE CITY — A 10-year-old Kentucky boy reportedly died by suicide this weekend after enduring constant bullying over his colostomy bag. Tami Charles said she came home from the grocery store Saturday morning to find that her son Seven Bridges had hung himself in his closet, according to WDRB.
