WEST VALLEY CITY — Eight people are in custody after shots were fired on the campus of Granger High School on Friday night.
Multiple rounds were fired in the third quarter of a football game at the high school, said Granite School District spokesman Ben Horsley, but the shots were not fired in the football field area. The high school is located at 3690 S. 3600 West.
Nobody was injured and most of the people at the football game were unaware that anything happened, Horsley said. The shooting is believed to be gang-related.
Four officers from the Granite School District Police Department were at the football game at the time and were able to quickly respond, Horsley said, with assistance from the West Valley Police Department.
Eight people were taken into custody by Granite police following the shooting, according to Horsley. Details about their ages or whether they attend Granger High were not available.
