The 2020 season will be the beginning of a new era for Real Salt Lake in a lot of ways, and on Thursday, the club took a big step in announcing some roster changes.

RSL announced the retirement of not only Nick Rimando, but also longtime defender Tony Beltran, goalkeeper Alex Horwath and forward Jordan Allen.

In addition, RSL announced it has declined contract options of veterans Luke Mulholland and Joao Plata, as well as defenders Marcelo Silva and Danilo Acosta.

Midfielders Kyle Beckerman and Kelyn Rowe, as well as Utahn Sebastian Saucedo and defender Donny Toia, are out of contract.

Free agency will open on Nov. 25 at 1 p.m.

The club also announced that it has signed Mikael Chang from Real Monarchs SLC.

On Wednesday, the Monarchs announced that former RSL stalwart Jamison Olave has been named head coach after he guided them to the USL Championship title as interim coach on Sunday.
