It wouldn’t be a week in Washington without a cascade of new hiring announcements, job changes, and administration news.
Several interesting hires happened this week, including an addition to the White House’s Office of Management and Budget communications team, and a new national press secretary for the Republican National Committee. An alum of Trump’s national security council also found a new gig on Capitol Hill.
On the other side of the media equation, CNN beefed up its politics staff by poaching Natasha Bertrand from Politico, and The Washington Post has a new deputy Washington editor.

Katie Miller, a former spokeswoman for ex-Vice President Mike Pence, has taken on a new job with the Coalition To Protect American Workers, a conservative group opposing Biden’s tax policies
Steve Pierce is now a senior director at Bully Pulpit Interactive, a left-leaning communications and advertising agency that counts President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign and the American Civil Liberties Union among its many clients. Pierce was previously director of battleground state communications for Priorities USA, a Democratic super PAC.
Dan Backer, a veteran election law attorney, is now an attorney at Chalmers & Adams LLC, a political law and litigation firm.
Emma Vaughn is now the national press secretary for the Republican National Committee. She previously served as communications director for Rep. Andrew Garbarino, a Republican of New York.
Isabel Aldunate is now deputy associate director for communications in the White House Office of Management and Budget. She previously worked in various communications roles for Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign and Biden’s inaugural committee.
Lobbying and advocacy
Jana Barresi is now the head of Lowe’s Companies Inc.’s Washington, DC, office, which coordinates Lowe’s lobbying and government affairs. Previously, Barresi was senior director for federal government affairs for Walmart Inc.
