His departure puts May’s Brexit strategy in doubt – and some commentators are even saying it could end her leadership. Davis wanted a more complete separation from the EU – and felt he had been sidelined by May.
Eight trapped boys wait for cave rescue
Eight boys remain trapped in a cave in Thailand after four were rescued yesterday. Thai Navy seal divers brought the four boys to the surface one by one, wearing full-face oxygen masks. The operation then paused for ten hours while new oxygen tanks were laid out along the route. The rescued boys were taken straight to hospital.
Novichok murder inquiry after victim dies
Dawn Sturgess, the 44-year-old Novichok poisoning victim from Amesbury, died last night in hospital, making the police inquiry into the poisoning a murder probe. Her 45-year-old partner, Charlie Rowley, is still critically ill in hospital. Sturgess’s family have been informed and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
