Anyone lucky enough to see this rising star at her Commodore Ballroom show during the Juno events in Vancouver knows that her live performances are intense and fierce. After winning the Breakthrough Artist of the Year and lighting up the charts with such songs as Figures and the topical short film for the track Gatekeeper, this Brampton, ON., singer/songwriter is releasing her followup album sometime later this year. Titled Being Human in Public, it should present another side to this talented young artist.

Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Subatomic Sound System

One of the creators of the Jamaican musical genre called dub, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry has been active in reggae and electronic music since the mid-1950s. The 82-year-old bandleader is out on the road supporting his seminal Super Ape Returns to Conquer album, which includes such legendary tracks as War Ina Babylon and Dread Lion. Having worked with everyone from Bob Marley to The Clash, it’s anybody’s guess what Perry’s set will include. Rest assured, no matter what he and the band groove into, it’s going to be unique.
