The Sounders’ rival in the Leagues Cup final will be another Mexican team. León and Pumas collide Wednesday night.
In a game that was very balanced, the local team had the best approaches in the first half, including two from Ruidíaz.
The visiting team was slightly better after halftime and had the clearest shot of the match at the 64th minute with a free kick that Chilean Diego Valdés sent into the post.
Just as it seemed that the match would go to a shootout, Ruidíaz received a 30-meter pass through the center of the field, surpassed the mark of Emilio Orrantia and entered the area to take a shot that was rejected by goalkeeper Gibrán Lajud.
The rebound caromed back to Ruidíaz, who then found the back of the net.
