Authorities have identified one of two people killed in crashes on Highway 4 last weekend.
Tyson Knerr, 33, of San Pablo, died in a motorcycle wreck that happened about 9:50 p.m. Saturday. He was going eastbound on the highway just west of the Railroad Avenue exit in Pittsburg. He died at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol said Knerr lost control of a Yamaha R-6 and was thrown from the motorcycle.
Knerr’s fatal wreck was the first of two that happened about 26 hours apart. A 21-year-old man who was a front-seat passenger in a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser died when that car lost control while going east near Highway 160 in Oakley at about 11:50 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities early Friday still were not releasing his identity, saying his closest relatives still have not been notified.
The CHP said they arrested a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of DUI but a Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office spokesman said Friday that their office has not filed charges against the woman.
